Please plan to join us for our next webinar on Agritourism with Jay Schwinn.

Jay Schwinn was born in the Salt Creek Valley near Leavenworth, Kan. Raised on a small farm with his 3 sisters and brother, and with a Dad who had a passion for gardening, Jay was introduced early to vegetable production. Jay and his brother, Joe, sold their first produce (sweet corn) from under a shade tree before their teen years even began. First year sales topped $40, giving each brother $20 to spend at the Leavenworth County Fair. As the years passed, Joe continued on the farm, attended Kansas State University where he received a degree in Horticulture, and returned to the farm to make a living. Jay entered the corporate world, eventually working for Merrill Lynch as a Risk and Compliance Manager. In 2010, Jay returned to the farm and “The Barn” was born. Hosting over 80 weddings per year from as far away as Hawaii, Jay has developed a passion for Agritourism and creating memorable, back-to-the-farm experiences. Jay is the Chair of the Kansas Agritourism Council, a From the Land of Kansas member, he is active in the North American Farmer Direct Marketing Association, and is a commissioner on the Leavenworth County Planning and Zoning Board.
